TheGem Blocks for WBACKERY

Installing TheGem Blocks Plugin

TheGem Blocks plugin is a recommended plugin. It is not required in order to be able to use TheGem. You are free to decide, whether you wish to use TheGem Blocks or not.

After installing TheGem theme you will see notification about recommended plugins to install. Click on “Begin installing plugins” and then on “Install” to get TheGem Blocks installed

Quick Overview

To start TheGem Blocks, first add or edit any page, post, portfolio page etc. In frontend or backend WPBakery Page Builder you will see this two buttons:

 You will see this overlay:

1. Tab “TheGem Blocks”: here you will find all pre-made blocks
2. Tab “Saved Templates”: here you can find any of your own saved templates (see below)
3. Search: here you can search for the blocks by entering its name
4. Categories: list of block categories, grouped thematically
5. Blocks: overview of pre-made blocks, assigned to the selected category
6. Favorites: here you can find all blocks, which you have added as your favorites (see below)
7. Include media: if checked, demo media (images, videos) will be inserted as well. Uncheck to insert dummies instead of demo media
8. Here you can switch between two color modes for blocks: Multicolor and dark mode.

Inserting Blocks

1. Click “Preview” to open the block’s preview in a separate tab
2. Click “Star” icon to add the block to your favorites.
3. Click “Insert” to get the block on your page.

NOTE: if you have any problems by inserting the blocks, please check your firewall settings. All requests to and from the remote IP 142.44.212.145 (or domain “democontent.codex-themes.com”) should be allowed.

Re-using blocks

Once modified/customized, the block can be re-saved to your own templates (check “Saved Templates” tab in TheGem Blocks overlay). Here you have two options: 

Re-saving a row

To re-save a row to your own templates, follow this steps: 

1. Click Edit Row:

4. Set template name and click save changes:

Re-save multiple rows/page layout

1. Select “Saved templates”:

2. Specify the name of your template and click save:

To insert the saved template to your new page or post, click “Plus” icon in the saved templates tab:

SPECIAL BLOCKS

CUSTOM TITLES

This blocks have been made for using it as page/post custom title templates. Custom titles are special templates for page titles, which can be created here

and then used globally across your website pages/posts by selecting it in page options of any page/post

Blocks for custom titles are visible only while creating new or editing existing custom titles and can be found in this category

For all other post types (pages, posts etc.) this category is not available.

WOOCOMMERCE

Blocks for online shops are available in eCommerce category here

In order to be able to work with this blocks you need to install WooCommerce plugin in your WordPress installation. In case WooCommerce is not installed, you will get a message asking you to install this plugin.

CONTACT FORMS & NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIPTIONS

Contact form blocks work only with active Contact Form 7 plugin. In case Contact Form 7 plugin is not installed, you will get a message asking you to install this plugin.

Newsletter blocks work only with active Easy Forms for Mailchimp plugin. In case this plugin is not installed, you will get a message asking you to install this plugin.

Uninstalling Plugin

In case you don’t want to use TheGem blocks anymore, you can easily uninstall this plugin in the installed plugins tab:

1. Right-click on “Edit Section” icon and select “Save as Template”

2. Enter template name and click “Save”:

3. Your block will be saved in “My Templates”

In order to insert the saved block in your page:

CUSTOM TITLES

Blocks for custom titles are visible only while creating new or editing existing custom titles and can be found in this category

Titles and excerpts / subtitles of custom title blocks are already made as dynamic content. After creating new custom title (or editing an existing one) and inserting any custom title block you will see this placeholders:

  • Page/Post Title
  • Page/Post Excerpt

It means, that once used on a real page this placeholders will be dynamically replaced with real page title and page excerpt.
